College Bowl on NPR's Latino USA

Cesar Chavez, the zoot suit riot, Reis Lopez Tijerina and the Land Grant movement, the East LA walkouts, The Chicano movement. The history of Mexican Americans in this country is rich with accomplishment and contribution, but you probably wouldn't know that unless you took a college course in Mexican American studies, or you competed in the Chicago-area Cinco de Mayo College Bowl. Begun at Chicago's Highland Park High School eleven years ago, the bowl now includes a dozen area schools and sixty team members all-vying to be city champions and in the process, developing a love for learning.
