I got the chance to interview Chicago Catholics for the
New York Times website. I asked them about the Pope and the state of their church and what they had to say was really surprising. Not being a Catholic, I saw the religion as an amorphous mass - but after speaking with a few dozen people - the myriad divisions within the church were evident. The biggest issues seemed to be the church's stance on homosexuality, women and marriage in the priesthood, and bringing back the traditional Latin mass.
